Colin Powell speaks at Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference

 

 

Several thousand attendees at the Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference were treated to a moving presentation by the former Secretary of State.  His keynote speech was the highlight of a very successful two-day conference, the theme of which was "Becoming a Diversity First Consumer."

Janine D. Johnson chairs planning committee for visit to University of North Texas by Betty DeGeneres

 

 

Janine D. Johnson is serving as the chairperson of the committee planning a significant fund-raising event supporting the University of North Texas' Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Ally Scholarship in Honor of Mary Finley and Dan Emenheiser.

This event, scheduled for Tuesday November 13, 2007 in Dallas, TX, will feature Betty DeGeneres - mother of actress, comedienne, and Emmy award-winning talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres and a leading advocate for GLBT civil rights.

Janine D. Johnson to represent Millersville University at the Inaugural ceremonies of new University of North Texas President

 

 

Janine D. Johnson is honored to have been asked to represent her alma mater, Millersville University (Pennsylvania) at the inauguration of Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille as the University of North Texas' 14th President.

The ceremonies will take place on April 13, 2007 on the UNT campus in Denton, TX.

North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce becomes sponsor of the  Texas Diversity Council's annual statewide conference

 

 

The North Texas Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it will again be a Patron level sponsor of the Texas Diversity Council's annual statewide conference, to be held at the Dallas Convention Center on May 15 and 16, 2007.  This marks the second year that the chamber has partnered with the Texas Diversity Council for this significant event.

The keynote speaker at the 2007 conference will be General Colin Powell (Ret).  Also scheduled to present are such luminaries as Carly Fiorina, Former Chairman and CEO of the Hewlett-Packard Company and Anna Escobedo Cabral, Treasurer of the United States.  For additional information about the conference, visit the conference website.

Janine Johnson joins the Advisory Board of the Texas Diversity Council

 

 

Janine D. Johnson has accepted an invitation by the Texas Diversity Council to join the Advisory Board for the North Texas region.  

The Texas Diversity Council (TXDC) is commited to fostering a learning environment for organizations to grow in their knowledge of diversity. The TXDC is a great opportunity for organizations to learn from some of the top corporate leaders in the area of diversity.

The TXDC is currently made up of nine Councils throughout the state of Texas. The Councils serve the greater Metropolitan Areas of Greater San Antonio, Central Texas, North Texas, South Texas, Gulf Coast, Panhandle, Corpus Christi, El Paso, and Waco.

Janine Johnson scheduled to speak at 3rd Annual Women's Seminar at the University of North Texas

 

 

Janine D. Johnson, President of J. D. Johnson & Associates, LLC has once again been invited to speak at the University of North Texas' Annual Women's Seminar, to be held on November 2nd and 3rd, 2006 on UNT's Denton campus.

Ms. Johnson has been a presenter at this function since its inception in 2004.  This year, her presentation will be on Transitioning at Work.  She will discuss the procedures needed to ensure that an employee's transition goes as smoothly as possible and the responsibilities both the employer and employee have to one another. 

The seminar is a presentation of the Division of Equity and Diversity at the University of North Texas.  This year's theme is “On the Job: Employment Issues for Women who are Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and their Allies.”  The seminar is designed to extend knowledge on women’s critical issues for persons who are lesbian, bisexual and transgender as well as their allies.

Janine Johnson scheduled to present workshop at Out & Equal Summit

 

 

Janine D. Johnson, President of J. D. Johnson & Associates, LLC is partnering with Susan Gore, Principal of The Mentor Group, to present a workshop at the Out & Equal  2006 workplace Summit in Chicago.

The workshop - "B and T: The 'Silent Letter' in GLBT" - will be presented twice on Friday September 15, 2006.  In it, Susan Gore and Janine Johnson share their lifetimes-worth of experience toward giving voice to the all-too-often “silent letters” in GLBT.  This workshop is for anyone interested in better understanding the human condition (and sometimes hilarious dilemmas) of being bisexual or transgender.

Out & Equal™ Workplace Advocates is the pre-eminent national organization devoted to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in the workplace.  Their mission is to educate and empower organizations, human resource professionals, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and individual employees through programs and services that result in equal policies, opportunities, practices and benefits in the workplace regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, expressions or characteristics.
